Every once in a while I will have a customer that has a crack on the screen that can be fixed by just replacing the LCD panel, but they want to have the entire display assembly replaced with a Genuine Apple display assembly. It is a more expensive part, but the labor to install it is much easier. I always look forward to these repairs because they are so easy.
As you can see in the pictures there is a crack on the bottom left of the screen. The LCD panel cracked which caused lines along the bottom and the left side of the screen. The bezel or trim along the bottom of the MacBook Air was also cracked. Normally if I was completing an LCD replacement I would replace the bezel at the same time… but in this case, I swapped out the entire display assembly, so everything was replaced at once.
After the screen swap, the computer looks like new!
The turnaround on the full display replacements is a little slower than my LCD only repair at 3-5 days instead of 24 hours. This is because I have to wait for the display to arrive from Apple. I am able to stock the LCD panels, but I can’t stock the display assemblies.

$299 LCD Panel Replacement
I replace just the cracked LCD.
As long as the edges around the screen aren’t dented and there are no bends to the display, an LCD panel replacement is all that is needed for a cracked screen repair.
I use the same LCD panel Apple uses in their display assemblies: LP133WQ4_SJA1
